Interior designing is taught to us by our ancestors, however much thought was given to it from the 17 th century onwards. In the present day, most Interior designers prefer to bring back styles from the past and incorporate it to the existing patterns, it is crucial that the designer gets this right! Few aspects that designers take in to consideration are how to be environmentally friendly, how to make the most of each piece – making sure it has a multipurpose, and ensuring that the space you create gives you complete relaxation and peace. All these aspects considered, here are some of the ongoing trends presented to the drawing board –
-Black stainless steel
Gone are the days where people used to have pastel ovens and polished stainless steel ovens, the newest trend is to have a sleek black stainless steel oven that will redecorate your entire kitchen and have that complete clean look.
-Prints are back!
If you have watched the, “That 70’s Show” – the interior on the set and the floral prints on the couch are back in business. This era has always been an influence to the fashion industry and now for interior designing; its free-spirited nature has inspired many designers and they have brought back polished metals, bold geometric patterns, walnut colours with funky lantern shapes in avocado green, grey and bright orange. 
-Charging stations been integrated to furniture
Most people use their living space to chill and do what they please; write e-mails or documents, watch a movie or play a game on the tab, chat with friends over the phone, relax and journal on an electronic device…etc., this requires power banks. Therefore, many designers incorporate same in to the living space.
-Office space to induce wellness and productivity
The basic colours to be; nickel, gold, black, black brass or white and the use of leather upholstery. By offering an assortment of materials to work around most designers’ make-do with what they have and incorporate their own style to personalize it and to make it look inspiring.
-Customize and personalize
There are many online organizations that allow customers to come up with their own designs to suit their living space. They offer them a variety of textures, colours, fabrics, and configurations. Along with this they also have an option for the customer to select a preferred shape!
Many designers make a few mistakes and these are a few to watch out for;
-Forget about lighting; depending on the place, lighting can be tricky – but if it’s a small open space, using mirrors in the room can balance this issue.
-Pictures need to be at the right height, at eye level. It’s advisable to have a mock painting put up before hammering the nails in.
-Pillow problems; never have too many pillows to cover the entire sofa.
-Be easy with the colour scheming; always go with colours that suit your surroundings and a style that is pleasant.
-Get rid of the clutter; ornaments, paintings and furniture that does not go with the overall outlook of the living space.
